: EARMARK LOUDMOUTH HELPS USA DISABLED SAILING TEAM WIN
"The Loudmouth was a main contributor to ... winning top honors in competition"
Below is a letter of thanks from the USA Disabled Sailing Team which used an Earmark Loudmouth in a unique way to help their team in a race.
Thank you for all of your assistance with the Earmark LoudMouth. Despite some initial concerns in conversations with tech support, the amplifier proved to be an essential component to the racing this weekend. As seen in the photos, quadriplegic Paul Callahan wore the LoudMouth while strapped into his racing seat. As the skipper of the boat, his communication was greatly enhanced with Keith Burhans, his tactician (seen seated behind and to the left). Callahan credited the LoudMouth as a main contributor to his success in the event - winning top honors in competition with nine teams from five countries.
As I explained earlier, quadriplegics have difficulty with voice projection and amplification. With little voluntary control over their diaphragm, taking a deep breath in order to speak loudly requires a great deal of concentration and effort. With the LoudMouth, Callahan is able to speak in normal tones and have his voice directed towards his crew. The throat microphone eliminated all of the external slightly amplified and
noise sources such as wind and sails, and allowed for the clear, crisp communication so necessary to a well-functioning team. Thanks again for all of your interest and
support in working with us to find a solution.
Your suggestions and demo equipment provided a solid solution and enabled these disabled sailors to successfully represent our country in a great regatta.
