Earmark = Wireless Radio Communications
:HERO SAFE ORDNANCE HANDLING RADIO COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (DASH-5A)

The DASH-5A system was designed specifically for the communication and safety needs of ordnance handling applications and has been proven the communication system of choice by the US Marine Corps for ordnance handling with over fifty systems in use in fourteen different locations.

Produced by Earmark LLC, the specialists in premium wireless communication systems, the DASH-5A Ordnance Communication System provides a full duplex HERO-compliant (what is HERO?) wireless communication system for use by Safety and Ordnance Managers. Each DASH-5A system consists of five self-contained headset radios built into ear cups designed to fit into the standard Marine cranial helmet.

Two distinct frequencies are utilized for the DASH-5A: one frequency for management and safety personnel  to talk on and one frequency for everyone to listen to everything being said. This is implemented in the DASH-5A system using two talk and listen full duplex headset radios (one HLMG-3 and one HLMR-3) which allow management and safety members of the ordnance team to talk at all times and three listen-only ML-3 headset radios for Ordnance handlers. All headset radios can either be mounted inside a standard Marine cranial helmet or with a headband.

The HLMG-3 is the "central processor" of the DASH-5A system, making sure that all voice signals - both those from the management and those from safety personnel - are combined and retransmitted over the frequency used by the Ordnance Handlers.

The HLMR-3 is used by the management or safety person in the team to transmit instructions to the team and to listen to instructions from the HLMG-3 wearer.

The three ML-3 are listen-only headsets providing users with clear instructions simultaneously  from both the management AND safety team members.

Features unique to the management and safety headsets include:

  • Choice of continuous live microphone operation for low noise areas or VOX (voice activated transmit) for high noise areas  (PTT)
  • Specially designed noise cancellation microphone which mounts on an adjustable articulating boom at least 12 dB noise cancellation characteristics.
  • Field replaceable antennas and microphone element

All five headset radios in the DASH-5A system have these features:

  • All are powered by standard "off the shelf" 9 volt alkaline batteries which are easily replaced in the field to assure continuous service. A set of fresh batteries will typically provide 30 hours of continuous operation before requiring a replacement.
  • All units fit into standard Marine cranial helmet (not provided with the system)
  • All units utilize state-of-the-art construction with ear cups made with "T" grade ABS plastic for mechanical strength and acoustic performance.

As with all Earmark radios, the DASH-5A system is engineered to perform continuously in hazardous conditions. And if you ever require service, our excellent service department is available to fix your equipment quickly and professionally (many of our systems are in service for 15 years or more).

The DASH-5A system was designed specifically for the communication and safety needs of ordnance handling applications and has been proven the communication system of choice by the US Marine Corps for ordnance handling with over fifty systems in use in fourteen different locations.
